2 Chainz has spent this giving season amping up his own charitable intentions through his organization TRU. December 21st his foundation hosted the TRU 2 Hoops Holiday Basketball Classic at his hometown’s high school. The basketball tournament provided youths aged 10 to 13 with new Adidas uniforms and other special prizes. Proceeds from the concessions went to former North Clayton High School basketball star Zac Bradley who tragically became paralyzed his freshmen year of college due to a car accident.

The rapper’s foundation also hosted the 4th Annual Streets Execs Christmas Concert at Tabernacle on December 23rd. The show is free to attend, but viewers must bring an unwrapped toy to donate to several charity toy drives. The show featured 2 Chainz, B.o.B., Travis Porter, Young Dolph, Cap 1, Shanell, Rich Homie Quan, Young Dro, and Trinidad James.
If not his most famous act yet, “Dabbing Santa” sweaters being sold by TRU have been bought all season long and popularized by celebrities. Some proceeds from the sweaters are currently going to the Plater home in Georgia. Dierdre Plater, a single mother and veteran, is going to rest a little easier this year now that 2 Chainz has offered to pay her rent for all of 2016. He also surprised her and her family by furnishing their home. 2 Chainz used his foundation and the sales of his sweaters to help this family out.

2 Chainz and his fiancé Nakesha Ward started the TRU Foundation in March of 2013 and have since given so much back to the community. The Atlanta-based organization specializes in education, financial advisement, and work force preparation. What he’s been doing with his money and his time is an inspiration to all rappers and public figures. His preaches of giving back when you can is something we should all take to heart.
